JOB SUMMARY

The Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the firm’s adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements and related policies. Acting as a key point of contact for regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations, the role involves close collaboration with operational teams, proactive regulatory research, and the development of compliance training programs and policies. The Compliance Manager will also oversee licensing, registration, and reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring robust compliance frameworks in areas such as AML, KYC, and data privacy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all regulatory inquiries, audits, and examinations, liaising effectively with regulatory agencies and responding to information requests timely and accurately.
  • Collaborate with operations specialists to embed compliance requirements into all operational processes and workflows.
  • Firm grounding and knowledge of the National Credit Code.
  • Conduct ongoing regulatory research to monitor and interpret evolving regulatory requirements; assess implications for the firm’s strategies and practices.
  • Develop, support, and deliver compliance training sessions tailored for staff to promote a strong compliance culture.
  • Manage licensing, registration, and reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), know your customer (KYC), data privacy, and other applicable regulatory frameworks in each jurisdiction.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of compliance activities, audit trails, regulatory communications, and documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory filings, reports, and disclosures in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate and facilitate annual compliance reviews and ongoing compliance monitoring.
  • Play a key role in shaping and influencing the firm’s compliance culture, driving a mindset of compliance excellence across all teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous uplift of compliance frameworks to meet evolving regulatory landscapes and business needs.
  • Foster a purpose-led approach to business ethics and compliance, aligning practices with the firm’s core values.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, compliance, or related field. Professional certifications in compliance (e.g., CCAM, CAMS) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in compliance within the consumer credit financial services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of National Credit Code and Australian Credit Licensing requirements, AML/KYC regulations, GDPR, ISO standards, and relevant data privacy laws.
  • Strong experience dealing with AFCA and other ombudsman and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated success in shaping compliance culture and embedding frameworks within operational teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and training skills.
  • Strong analytical, research, and organizational abilities.
  • Capable of navigating cross-jurisdictional regulatory requirements with agility.
  • Strategic thinker with influence at senior levels, aspiring to grow into senior leadership roles.
